CHANGE MANAGER

Mark started his career in Local Government in Dubbo, the city of his birth, after finishing school. He worked at Dubbo Council performing various roles.

​

At the age of 30, he was appointed Director of Corporate Services/ Deputy Town Clerk at Coffs Harbour City Council. Subsequently, he was appointed as its General Manager in 1998.

His experience working as a GM/CEO within  councils for 20 years influenced his leadership style and ability to collaborate at all levels. It enabled  him to facilitate meaningful change and successful transformation of an organization's culture and relationship with the community. This was evident in all three of the councils that he worked in.

In particular, during the NSW Government's 2016 amalgamation process, several councils were dissolved, and Mark was appointed by the government to lead the merger of Manly, Warringah, and Pittwater councils. This merger was widely recognized as the most successful, achieving cost savings, organisational cohesion, and community support for the controversial merger proposal.

​

Throughout his career, Mark benefited from outstanding coaching and mentoring. His experiences in life and work have shaped his personal values, and learnings. His strengths may be described as honesty and kindness with a love of learning. He has a strong emotional awareness and is recognised as someone that can facilitate meaningful change within a workforce.

Mark recently graduated from the University of Sydney with a Master of Science in Coaching Psychology and has an Executive Master of Business from the University Technology Sydney. He also has a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Local Government from Charles Sturt University.

He has served as a board member for several organisations and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He also served as President of the NSW Local Government Professionals and National Local Government Professionals. He is a board member of Cemeteries and Crematoria NSW.

​

As a Third Counsel Director he has facilitated successful planning outcomes for not for profit organisations such as the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and the Harding Miller Education Foundation and various private sector organisations and individuals. He has also undertaken feasibility studies into partnership opportunities with government sector. He also provides leadership development sessions for executives and continues his coaching with a range of clients.
